Sean McNally, MFT

In Sean’s opinion, distress sets in when challenging life experiences and traumatic situations become overwhelming and leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, disconnected from others, and living in a manner that is out of alignment with our values, purpose, and self-concept. Sean believes that we each discover a unique remedy to this distress through exploring the healing integration of our body, mind, and soul that results in the cultivation of a vibrant life.

Sean McNally is a Marriage and Family Therapist (MMFT) in Brooklyn, New York. He holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University and has worked in collaborative group practices, and non-profit settings.

Sean’s therapeutic practice focuses on supporting adult individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, existential and spiritual issues, and relational challenges. Sean also works with couples who want to get “unstuck” from unhelpful interaction patterns, heal old wounds, and cultivate more joy in their relationship.

Sean’s approach is based in attachment theory and the belief that people’s daily lives are heavily influenced by relational dynamics, the manner by which they navigate challenging life experiences, and their ability to address physiological responses to stress. Sean utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Narrative, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

In therapy, Sean provides a safe, warm, welcoming, non-judgmental environment that creates space for you to explore your healing journey. Sean’s aim is to help you alleviate the distress you are experiencing and develop a life you love.

Sean is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and is supportive of heterosexual and LGBTQ individuals and couples.

As an associate therapist, Sean can accept sliding scale clients.
